Black, laid down first.

Onyx takes its name from the Greek for a claw. It is the oldest colour in An Tine, and the one everything else is built on.

On skin it reads inky and absolute, a raven line that makes every colour laid over it brighter. The drop lands with a sharp gasp, then settles into a slow, even warmth.

Pure paraffin flows over the curves and sets smooth and sculptural, a dark base coat that holds its shape under every layer above it. Afterwards it comes up clean, in casts and sheets.

How to Use:

Light the candle. Once the wax starts to melt around the base of the wick, tip parallel and test the first drops on your own forearm before the canvas. Avoid inverting the candle, hold parallel to the canvas and rotate in the hand to melt wax evenly. Height controls temperature. Higher is cooler, lower is hotter. Build from there, one deliberate drop at a time.

Safety:

Formulated for wax play. Keep away from eyes, face, broken skin and hair. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Trim the wick between sessions. Consent and communication before the first drop, always.

Paraffin retains heat longer than soy. Never let it pool on the skin, as pooled wax can run significantly hotter than the stated melting point and risks burns.

The black pigment can smudge on the outside of the candle in warm weather. Give it a wipe before the scene. The colour lifts clean from the skin.
