Care Guide for Floggers and Single Tails
Impact Implement Care Guide
Thank You for Adopting This Unique Couture Beastie!
You’ve started a collection, and we’re thrilled to welcome you to the Collared Foxy family. Your new addition is handcrafted with care and deserves the best treatment to keep it performing beautifully for years to come.
Housing Your Pet
- Store your creature hanging by its loop to avoid creasing its fall(s) and to maintain its shape.
- Keep it away from direct light for extended periods to prevent fading, drying out and brittleness.
- Always store in a dry environment to stop mould and mildew from developing.
- We provide a cool branded black cotton storage bag with a little window for you to write your pet’s name (or just its species if you prefer). This breathable bag is perfect for protecting your creature while allowing air circulation.
- Please, please do not store in a plastic bags, as leather is skin and needs to breathe. Instead, tuck it into its cotton storage back and, hang your new addition in a cool, dry place. That goes for plastic sports gear bags and suitcases.
- Do not neglect your new baby by leaving it in the bottom of your toy bag, all scrunched up and lonely, as this can cause permanent creasing and damage to its fall(s), and nobody likes a bent single tail! (seriously though, it affects the way it throws)
Grooming Your Creature
- Avoid using over broken skin to prevent cross-contamination and maintain hygiene standards if multiple people are using it or being subjected to its use. (This is one of the reasons we encourage bottoms to have their own pets if they are engaging in play with multiple tops - that and they can choose the sensations they wish to experience)
- Be aware that using any cleaning or conditioning agent on your beastie’s fall(s) will risk damaging or discolouring it, especially if it has a fuzzy suede coat. Always spot check on a small, inconspicuous area first before applying any product. If you must clean your creature to prevent cross-contamination, use an antibacterial spray specifically formulated for leather. Several hours of sun exposure will also help remove pathogens naturally, but don’t leave it to bask out there for too long!
- Your new addition absolutely does not like a bath. Please do not get it wet if you can avoid it, as excessive moisture can damage the leather and affect its integrity. If it gets wet, blot it with a towel and let it hang dry naturally. Don’t use a heat source to dry it because it will cause it to dry out too much.
- Please also be careful using it over wax or massage oil as the wax and oil will get onto the falls and is a bitch to get off (we know from experience!)
Conditioning Your Pet
- If your beastie is of the leather species and you choose to condition it’s falls(s), use a light lotion-like product (think the consistency of light skin moisturiser) designed specifically for leather. Apply sparingly and only when necessary.
- If it is of the suede subspecies, only use specific products formulated for nubuck or suede.
- Do not use oil, heavy leather conditioner, upholstery products, saddlery products, alcohol, or saddle soap, as these products can oversaturate, stiffen, or damage your creature’s hide, and change the way it throws and feels.
- For the rare and unusual CrocoDragons, use only the finest reptile-specific conditioner such as Angelus Reptans to maintain your pet’s unique texture and finish.
Regular Maintenance Care
- Use a dry soft brush or microfibre cloth to groom your new addition after use, removing any dust or debris. They will occasionally shed leather dust particles , particularly if of the suede variety. (We call it leather glitter, it gets everywhere when we are making!)
- Check your beastie’s falls occasionally and trim as needed. Leather is a natural material, and some parts of the hide are stretchier than others. Falls may stretch with use over time, and leather is subject to natural imperfections. Simply trim the falls to keep them even and maintain optimal performance.
- Some of the CrocoDragon species can be a little precious with the very end of their tail. Don’t be afraid to trim it if it gets a bit ratty and thin. Each tail is a very unique creature and has an individual thickness, weight, shape and heft. We have no control over these wild beasts unfortunately and some of the little teeny tiny tips of their tails can be a little fragile.
Important Warnings aka Please Read
- Do not use anything abrasive on the metallic foil kangaroo leather on the handle shaft or butt and neck knots, as this will damage your creature’s beautifully unique decorative finish. A dry microfibre cloth does a fine job of gently polishing it up nicely. Whilst we take every precaution to avoid scratching it, sometimes it is inevitable.
- Do not overwork your pet in its new job. They all love a darn good flogging and whipping but some species are built from lighter leathers that are not designed for heavy play or being used with extreme force. They may deteriorate quickly if used beyond their intended purpose.
Our Workmanship Guarantee
- Whilst we guarantee our beastie’s workmanship for life in creating them, we cannot repair those damaged by cleaning, improper care or wear and tear on the metallic finishes of the handles.
Following these guidelines will help ensure your new addition remains in excellent condition and part of your impact family for years to come.
