FAQs
Candles and Wax Play
1. What is the difference between your dripping and pouring candles?
We made a little video on this! Our recipes for the pourers are likely to change in the future as we explore some container candles for wax play, however the reason for the names is to do with how the ingredients affect the intended use. Pourers are made from parasoy wax and cool quickly and have a slightly lower melting point. Drippers are made from pure paraffin wax which is excellent at storing heat, hence letting them pool can mean they get very hot, which is why we don't recommend using them for pooling pours. They run very well just letting them drip and layer on top of one another.
2. Why does the colour change within the candle?
The paraffin ones in particular are tricky beasts to make. If poured too hot, the dye that we use can settle and cause an ombre effect. Even if we try everything and get it perfect, sometimes it still happens a little because of gravity. It doesn't affect the performance of the candle at all as it remixes as it burns. We won't sell candles with excessive settling. However, it is recommended that when first lighting it, empty the wax two or three times to improve burning performance.
